Herbs

farmer-150.pngThe only thing that is as good as growing your own vegetables is growing your own herbs. I love having some fresh herbs while cooking, and they seem to turn a great dish into a spectacular one.

I don’t grow any herbs in my garden space, because I try to reserve that area for my vegetables. I grow most of my herbs in containers. And the great thing about growing your own herbs in containers is that most varieties are compact enough that it makes growing them in containers very viable. Growing herbs in a container also means less up-keep; which is always a bonus.

I have grown rosemary, thyme, sage, oregano, basil, chives, cilantro and mint all in the same container. Having all those herbs in one container also creates a wonderful aroma on my patio.

In the Herb Plants section, I will have some information about the herbs I plan to grow in my containers this season. There will be a few pictures and growing facts on each herb. As the season progresses this year, I will have regular posts, how-to’s, and pictures of how I grow each herb – so stay tuned!
