So, my DH and I planned on building an inexpensive hoop style greenhouse over the summer as money allowed.

but then he saw this one on sale at harborfreight for 199.99. The website says 299.99, but he got a flyer advertisement in the mail with a $100.00 off coupon for this greenhouse that he can use prior to May 10th.

I'm thinking even to build an inexpensive one is going to be around $150.00. So, this is a little more but I think it'll be so much more functional.

any opinions on this greenhouse? anyone have one?

sorry - DH is shorthand for 'dear husband'.

I did read some of the reviews and it seems main complaint is ease of assembly (as in it's not all that easy). fortunately, DH is a whiz braniac type at building and putting things together and is a perfectionist at making sure things are structurally sound, tight and rigid, so I think we've got that covered.

It’s so tempting. The idea of a greenhouse means gardening year round, a warm sunny spot to garden in February. Tropical plants that survive the winter... Greenhouses are the ultimate fantasy for gardeners, but they’re also a big responsibility. One night without heat and all of your plants and seedlings could be goners. Your greenhouse will need heat, water, benches, venting, electricity. And that’s just for starters. Here are some key points to ponder before you buy a greenhous................

now it also depends on the general climate you live in and the type of plants/starts you want to have. if you want tomatoes in winter where it snows then yes you want a way to supplement the heat. if you want lettuce in winter then no heat required the sun will do enough. If you want one to just get plants started a couple months early so they have more growing time you won't need it heated but you will need electricity for the extra light needed depending on where you live. they can be very simple or extravagant depending on what you wish to grow/start.
