Ants are driving me crazy; they are everywhere and in great numbers. I keep their numbers down in the house by using borax and honey or jelly mix. There seems to be some disagreement about safety of borax in veggie garden. Has anyone tried the cinnamon solution with success? flooding them out of the bags of soil did not work; they can swim! Help, please!!

Clean with Pine Sol. We had ants terribly bad for years and it seemed there was no relief in sight. So I don't know why, but one day I cleaned everything with Pine Sol and that was months ago. NO MORE ANTS..hi judybrad....i found this on a forum..i don't know if it will work..might be worth a try.some suggestions here as well..
Try a vinegar spray. Mix three parts vinegar with one part warm water, and spray around the perimeter of the garden. If you know where the ant hill is, you can spray the mound directly.

Sprinkle freshly ground black pepper in your garden around your plants. Ants won't cross it, and it doesn’t cause any harm to you plants.

Grind up some chalk, and sprinkle it around the garden. Ants will stay away. If they're already in the garden, use the vinegar and water mixture spray, and once they've gone, use the chalk to keep them out.

Shake out a line of baby powder around the garden. For some reason, ants don't seem to like the smell, and won't go near any part of the garden that has a baby powder smell.

Find the ant hill, and pour corn meal on top of it. Ants will eat the corn meal, but they can't digest it, so they will die. If you hate the idea of killing ants, put a jar of honey in a tree near your garden. The ants will relocate so they can be near the honey, and it will keep them--and you--happy all summer long.

be careful with the vinegar as it will kill your plants. it is a great weed killer but will kill any plant that it gets on or in the ground near.

One way I found of killing ants is take a shovel full of dirt and ants from one pile and place it onto another pile and vice versa. Each thinks it is getting invaded and they kill each other.
