Brocolli

I've never grown brocolli before, but got some starts and have about 5 plants in my small fall garden. The plants are getting kind of big (although since I've never grown it before, I'm not sure how large they are supposed to get), but I'm curious how long would it normally take before you start seeing some brocolli heads start to form? the foliage is big - probably about the size of my hand, and it's a nice healthy looking plant. i'm just not seeing any little heads emerging from the center.

I've tried broccoli a few times and it has been my experience that they get huge before the heads form. After the head forms and you cut it off, then several smaller ones start growing. Good Luck! My problem with them has always been the dreaded cabbage worm.
