I just started using food grade diatomaceous earth this year. I sprinkle it around my squash plant stems. Doesn't work completely, but is a great alternative to toxic pesticides. It will kill all insects through desiccation, so don't put on flowers or anywhere else you can see beneficial insects. I use a turkey baster to blow the dust around. You can also buy garden dusters.
