I am so delighted to be a new member of Veggie Gardner. I am a first-time poster here, and a first-time gardener. My husband, however, grew up on his family's ancestral 2000-acre cotton farm, so his lifelong experience helps balance out my being so green to all things green and growing....he's a patient, fun teacher and has already taught me much about gardening this spring! what a delight it is! we are already enjoying our plentiful summer squashes; have had some almost every day for two weeks and neither of us is tired of them yet. well, there are so many different ways to use them and it's difficult to imagine our enthusiasm for them waning. along with our yellow squash and zucchini we have planted okra, tomatoes, cucumbers, cantaloupe, watermelon, and a few different varieties of peppers. so far, aside from the squash, our mild yellow peppers are the only thing to give us yield. we are anxiously awaiting all else! I am looking forward to learning from all of you experienced gardeners out there. We are in central South Carolina, Fort Motte, specifically. Any tips or advice are welcome. Happy spring and summer growing to everyone! ellie
