I will be adding potatoes to my list of gardening items this year and have been doing some research on different types of containers that can be used to grow them from bags to buckets to just adding them into the garden. My question is has anyone tried growing potatoes in rubbermaid bins before and if so did it provide a decent yield?

Ive seen that method during my research. I think since ive have many seed potatoes I will try a few different types and go from there. Might be fun to see what works better and what doesnt. I dont have any tires laying around so you'll have to let me know ...

I did some one year in 55 gallon barrels they did ok but I am still learning the do's and don't with potatoes they can be a finicky to grow and get a decent yield. the barrel did work fine and was easy to tip over onto a tarp and sift out the spuds.

the tire towers werk,, a buddy of mine here in OK does it every year & spaces out 4 taters (12-3-6-9)
fills'm ta the top of tire with bag'd top soil outta WalMart, when it sprouts up 3'' above that tire he'll strack anuther tire up & let it sprout up through and do it all over til he gets 5 tires high then topples it all over & harvests taters.....
