I started my first garden last year. I grow everything in containers on 2 decks:), nothing larger than a 5 gallon with one exception (a wood box). It was more expensive because of low yield and short season here in Arnold, California. I was able to keep my cherry tomatoes growing indoors through the winter. I almost decided not try again this year but things started coming up on their own.

To think I almost didn't plant a garden this year! OMG, THAT's what strawberries are supposed to taste like?! Downstairs garden done for now until seedlings germinate. 4 kinds of heirloom tomatoes, mini red lettuce, red chard, kale, pole beans, 2 kinds of zucchini, nasturtium, colored carrots, romanesco broccoli, green onions, cleary sage, thyme, pickling cucumbers, lobelia, sweet allysum, globeria (?), butterfly bush, strawberries, basil, tomatillos, yellow bell peppers, and a petunia that keeps reseeding. A beautiful butterfly and lots of bees visited while I was planting! When you really love doing something, you don't notice how long you are doing it for or how tired you get doing it; you just keep looking for the next thing to do!

LOL! I remember the taste of my first home grown strawberry. I didn't know they tasted like that! The taste was so spectacular, I saw colors when it exploded in my mouth. Had to compete with wildlife for them until I read that I could put a net over them. There's always so much to learn. Your garden sounds wonderful.
