Hello to all,
My name is Pattie and I reside in northwest Arkansas. My family had a huge garden when I was a child and I grew up working the garden from 6 years of age until I turned 18 moved away for college and then married and had my own family. Our kids are grown and on their own so my hubby made me some amazing raised bed gardens this spring and I planted our first little garden. Right now, it is flourishing except for some yellow squash rot. I lost about 25 crooked neck squash to the rot before I read an article on applying calcium for this problem which I did with one cup of milk in one gallon of water and the difference is amazing in just 3 short days! I have a lot to learn and many questions at times that I look to the internet for answers and now am looking forward to being a part of this group and getting support from you when needed and helping others if I can as well. The items we planted this year are Cucumbers, Yellow Squash, Red Leaf Lettuce, 2 varieties of Tomatoes, Blue Lake Green Beans and California Red Bell Peppers. The peppers are the only plant that has not yet begun to bloom. We have already decided that next spring we are doubling our raised beds and need to spread out our plants more.
