I'm also new at gardening vegetables and self watering containers this year. Its still winter here in Australia, so not much growth in anything as yet. Still keeping light frost off my plants, I have two tomato plants both over 5ft and plenty of green tomatoes, just not hot enough yet to ripen them. Average day time temperature 18 to 22. Covering my plants at night, coldest winter we have had in several years. Also have 3 eggplants growing well, lettuce, garlic, spring onions, kale, spinach, carrots, lemon and orange tree. Have planted heaps of seeds inside - tomatoes, capsicum, leek, cucumber, all have sprouted and about 1" high. Waiting for it to warm up at night before planting outside when they get a little bigger.
