Hello!

I wanted to introduce myself and say how excited I am to make some new gardening friends. My name is Julie. I live in Ankeny, Iowa which is zone 5. Anyone else from Iowa? This will be my 2nd year of doing my own garden (2013). I have gardened all my life with my mother. I am a newly wed and am enjoying building a home with my husband and daughter. I am open to growing anything. As I am just starting out I have only grown flowers and vegetables. I am wanting to do more. I am dreaming and going to be adding more each year. Interested in Perenials! I would like to exchange seeds and plants. I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Hello Julie, My name is Tieshia. If you count last fall as a garden year than I will be working on my second year(2013 Spring & Fall). I live in zone 6, I do hope you will be doing better with your garden so far than me, the weather has been nothing but cold, rain, and the occasional snow. Is Iowa really busy? My sister said that when she went to Iowa four months ago, it was as if it was a mini LA! I tried to grow peppers and pumpkins last fall, however they started to fruit, for some reason I could not get them to go past the baby fruit stage and they died. Do you plan on being a public gardener or just for the family? I know when I tried last time, it was for the main purpose to make some spice as butt chicken and the freshest of pumpkin pies with my sister and her kids.

I tried to grow flowers indoor currently but I think it might be my soil for the plants. I buy the packets and they said 2013, but so far none of them have popped up. Could it be that I have a dead seed packet?
