I think my plants are rotting but not sure

I'm struggling with my yellow pepper plants and now cucumbers too. The peppers turned green and big recently, but have not yet begun to yellow. In the last few days I've had 3 of the green peppers (yet to yellow) begin to what looks like rot on the top side (facing the sun). They look a bit wrinkled and are a tan color. The rest of the pepper still looks great. As of this morning I discovered 2 cucumbers with the same condition - tan and wrinkled on the side facing the sun, OK on the rest of the plant. Any idea why this is happening and what I should do?

Carrie== sounds like both the peppers & kukes are getting sunburn with no folige to cover the fruit
Hi Carrie,
If the plants are in the ground you will need to shade them. The immense heat Floridas sub tropical enviornment creates welts plants especially delicate vegetable plants. The discoloring and shrinkage is due to either heat, or nutrient lock. One of the two, but most likely this sounds like a case of a heat problem. Direct heat for an extended period of time breaks down the vegetable as it is a living thing.

Hi Carrie, my Cukes have up and died. Started with mildew in the leaves, then wilt, then basically dead. The few Cukes I did get were kind of weird looking, very black spikes. First time this has happened.
