yes get to know the good snakes versus the bad snakes. I live in the PNW west of seattle there are NO poisonous snakes here but we do have gardener snakes they are my friends they eat slugs,bugs and small rodents such as shrews and small mice.they are called gardener snakes because they favor being in gardens around where the pests like to hide.
they are also black mostly but with stripes orange or yellow the length of the body. they can get about 3 feet long. we also have a small grey lizard called a skink it eats bugs and slugs too.
