We have been in this house for two years and this year is the year of the garden, our first year was the year of the cucumber that was all we got from the garden. The garden was moved to a different location and the ground tilled twice and potato's were planted March 17. My son in law had to take out four tree's in order for the sun to shine down on the new garden, the Russet potato's did the best out of the three variety's. We have already can and froze the potato's and planted more green beans and four squash. We planted sixty different tomato plants and two different kind of green beans, we have canned tomato's and green beans. The tomato's are still producing so many green one's left, we also planted four watermelons and four pumpkins. Have eaten two watermelons they are sugar baby small but so good, the pumpkins have big flowers but no pumpkins yet. Our corn was a failure between the insects and not enough water we have lost more then seventy percent of it, the peppers are still producing so many banana, jalapeno,Tabasco, habanero, green pepper and other hot ones I don't know the name's of. My squash was lost to the squash bore so I have replanted in a farther and different location so I'm hoping for this squash to survive. We also planted some orange Turkish egg plant, the squash bore didn't bother this and we were able to harvest it and eat it. I'm saving seeds now for next year heirloom tomato's, peppers, egg plant and to many more to name. Something different we tried was jack beans and black Chinese beans both did very well, the jack beans take the longest to mature, have to wait for the vine to die before picking the pods. This has been a dream of mine to have a garden this size for many years, since I have retired I can work many hours in the garden and really like planting and watching the plants grow.
