Hello Gardners,
I'm Reetz, live in Milwaukee, WI (Zone 5-6), and am having problems in my garden. I've always grown herbs and a few tomatoes and peppers as well as some flowers. We recently bought a house, so this year we dug up grass at one end of the yard to make a bigger vegetable garden. We planted raspberries and strawberries (these were actually started last year), tomatoes, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, pumpkins, corn, peppers, peanuts, eggplant, and watermelon.
We got a few strawberries and raspberries this year, but something ate them before we did.
Rabbits, I think, totally devoured the peanut plants.
The next problem was powdery mildew on all the squash family plants. I am treating them with milk and baking soda as recommended on this site, but it's not gone yet.
Another big concern now is all these little flying bugs in the garden. I don't know what they are, but when I walk into the garden they fly up everywhere. I'd like to know what they are and what they are eating, and how I can safely get rid of them! Can anyone help me?
