This summer I sprinkled hard wood ashes around my squash & pumpkin plants, & have had no bugs. Does anyone have any information on this method? No bugs, but also no fruit is setting on, even though there have been lots of blossoms. I live in KS & it has been very HOT. My aunt told me that her grandmother put hard wood ashes around her potato plants to discourage potato bugs & it worked, so I tried it on squash & pumpkin.
