First time gardener! I live in NW Arkansas and was told sugar snap peas were a good crop to grow in the area for the fall. My seedlings took off, and I had quite a few peas pop up! But now my peas are turning yellow at the bas and the peas that have still produced are tasting bitter. What are a few ideas to get my peas back in order, and any tips to prevent caterpillars from devouring my plants! For extra context my plants are in an elevated garden bed, and I have had netting placed over the top to prevent the caterpillars with no avail. Any advice will help please!

Are they getting enough water, maybe too much water?
I have been careful watering, and did a little more research and people were saying they only needed 2 to 3 days a week of water, so I am not sure. Here is a picture of the base fir reference. The orange and black things are pipe cleaners to help them grow up the bean poles

I have had beans that yellowed at the bottom but still produced fine. Not sure why. Your soil looks good. Maybe get a soil test, might be deficient of something. I am no soil expert....lol
