Brandywine dates back to around 1885 and feature large, beefsteak-like tomatoes, with plants that have leaves similar to a potato plant. They fruit also comes in varying colors like red, pink, orange, and yellow.
Mortgage Lifter
The Mortgage Lifter heirloom tomato is another very popular tomato for slicing. It features large, pinkish fruit that can reach over 1 lb in size.

These tomatoes were developed by a man who took one tomato plant and crossed it with the pollen from three other plants. He then grew this new tomato out for six seasons until it was stable.
He then sold the tomato plants for $1 a piece until he paid off his mortgage.
That's when he named it the "Mortgage Lifter".
Cherokee Purple
The Cherokee Purple heirloom tomato has a sweet, fresh tomato taste and is believed to have come from the Cherokee Indians.
The large fruit features a dark red color that gently turn purplish-green at the shoulders.
