I've been gardening for many years. Have tried planting all varieties, some with good luck and not so good. Some years fair gardens, some years super gardens. My favorites are tomatoes, golden zucchini, lemon cucumbers, butternut squash, and melons(I live in upstate NY, so I have to work harder to get these since they have a long time til harvest). Our summers are short, winters long, but our soil is the best. I recently moved from a small farm where I had a 50' x 60' garden, to a small home where I will have about a 20' x 30' garden. Will need to plan well to get best use of space and sunlight. A few years ago I started using liquid rabbit manure fertilizer. The first time I used it I had the most abundant garden ever. Plan to use it this spring. Will let you know how it does. I usually plant from seed or start seeds in containers in late winter. Expect to have more time this year for my garden, as I have eliminated many time consuming things from my life. Nothing is more enjoyable than planting seeds and watching the plants grow!

Looking forward to more discussion,

Tom

well hello from the other coast out west. haven't been gardening long a few yrs now and each yr I add more to the garden and plant more varieties. I live on a small farm started out just having horses then added raising pigs for bacon and other cuts, then came the chickens gotta have the full meal deal:) then came the donkeys to protect the chickens or was it the donkeys came before the chickens. Thinking about getting a cow for both milk and beef breed her every yr for the calf to raise up for the beef and during that time milk her. I have a strong need to eat fresh healthy happy food.
