I have several tomato plants growing. A couple of them started blossoming when the plant was very small, so I cut them off. I think, (and correct me if I'm wrong, please), that the reason for cutting off blossoms is to let the growing energy concentrate on the plant for a sturdier plant and it will produce more blossoms. I have lots tomatoes on the plants and can't wait until they finally ripen!! The temps here in TN have been in the low to mid 80's this week, so I'm hoping to get some soon!
